Opps another late one.

This past week we have spending time trying to find a way to get a couple married. He is from Haiti She is Dominican. Several months ago we went to the Haitian embassy and got his birth certificate. We thought that with that he would be able to get the needed residency card so they can get married. We were wrong. The problem is that no one seems to really know how to do it. They have 2 kids together. He is here illegally but there are almost 2 million other Haitian here illegally also. They are a cute family and we feel impressed to help them however we can.

One the things I have enjoyed about our mission is the chance I get to help others with my physical therapy skills. They are outdated and rusty but I feel like I have been able to help the work move along using one of my talents. This week I was able to help a Hermana that has had back troubles her whole mission. She has been given every possible diagnoses and I was able to give her another one. The good news is that I think she will be able to make some improvement.

Since our Spanish is limited we have been able to put together some lessons using videos and our limited Spanish to teach basic lessons on subjects like faith and repentance. The people here have a strong belief in Jesus but as President Nelson said on his visit, they don't know him. There has been a disconnect between believing and acting.  Along with that goes the connections between getting forgiveness and actually changing your behavior. We were able to give a lesson on repentance a few times this week that has reminded me that the result of repentance needs to be bringing us closer to Christ and more in line with His will. It has been fun to teach these simple yet profound concepts.

As you can tell this is another late blog post. I am going to try to write another one tonight. We continue to feel blessed by this chance to serve here. There are many lessons of life and faith I have learned that I will never forget. I feel changed and improved. Maybe this mission has been a mission of repentance for me.

We love you all and miss you.

Watching a Book of Mormon Video with Evelyn and her friend. Her friend's brother isn't real interested.
We really miss them!
This is a young women's activity that Hermana Borup helped with. I don't know what they are doing.
