Surprise!

This week was not your typical week. We called by the Buhler's (the office couple) and asked if we could go to the airport to pickup 2 sister missionaries that were getting transferred here from Nicaragua. I new the truth because I set it up. Hermana Borup was just mad that we had to drive all the way from Azua and that no one in the capitol could do it. I kept telling her things will be ok. Our job is not to question every request but to just do our part. She sat over in the corner playing Duo Lingo on her phone. McKenzie called out Hermana!, Hermana. When she looked up it was priceless.  McKenzie's long time friend (Dianne)got a buddy pass for McKenzie so that she and McKenzie could fly here with McCoy.  Hermana Borup had no idea it was going to happen.

Most of the week we spent introducing them to our city and our missionary work. We spent some time at the beach, we went on a hike to some water falls and we introduced them to everyone we could. We took them to the Airport Monday night. It was really hard to say good bye. Now we know why the families of missionaries don't get to visit. There would be a lot of missionaries going home early. 

As hard as it was to say goodbye it made us realize that our time is running short and it has motivated us to increase our efforts to build the kingdom here in Azua. We feel very blessed to be here among great people who treat us so well.

It's hard to believe that this episode in our lives is coming to a close so quickly. As we make plans to visit people in the coming week we realize that it might be the last time we will see them. Of course, the follow-up question after we tell someone we will not be able to come back is "Will you ever come back to this country?" Our answer is that when they are sealed in the temple if we can come back we will. It is hard to say good-bye. We have made some great friends here, people we have served, people who have served us and people we have served with. One of the harder good-byes this week was to the daughter if Isidoro. If you remember Isidoro is the 92-year-old man that we have visited 2-3 times a week since we started helping him recover from a hip injury. His daughter is the most loyal, kind and patient daughter I have ever seen and I have some sisters that have shown me a very high standard. We will miss her. Yes, We are in Azua

I learned another lesson in life. First are GREATLY affected by personal motivation. AS you have read over and over again, I have been very excited about getting out of the office and into the cities with people and members and missionaries. Hermana Borup liked her job in the office and was very uncertain about moving away from a very comfortable life, with lots of knowns. I spent much of my time last week helping to get things ready for the move on Monday. We thought things were nearly done. My first impression was, "this looks great, yea it's a little dirty (from construction) but we have everything we need and more". Hermana Borup didn't overlook the dirtiness as easily as I did. We have a history of that. She had a hard time seeing the Air conditioning, the nice stove and big nice refrigerator. She saw a whole lot of dirt and grime left over by some very hard working men who don't clean as well as they install things. Let's just say our first night in Azua...
