60 is the new 50

In the spirit of the times, it didn't happen if you didn't take a picture of it and post it, I guess I didn't have my 60th birthday this week (Yesterday). And that's just fine with me. Fifty-something sounds just great to me but 60 (and now 60+ 1 day) sounds really old. So no picture = didn't happen.

We did missionary house inspections this week for 2 different zones. We had a great time seeing missionaries and trying to give them a little lift. The brownies that Hermana Borup makes seem to do the trick.

General Conferences as a missionary are extra special. We just seem to be hyper-focused on the word and how it can help us and help those we are trying to serve. It's really fun to tell people about a living prophet and then be able to invite them to hear the words of the Lord through His living Prophet. President Nelson doesn't disappoint. He teaches with a voice of warning, love, and power. When I hear him speak I can hear the words of the Lord.

As missionaries, we talk a lot about gathering the elect. This week in District meeting the Zone Leaders did a role play where they were approaching a new contact. They introduced themselves and said, "We are representatives of Jesus Christ and are here to teach people how they can be Baptized into His church." I love this direct approach. I think it sounds like something the Savior would say himself. The "elect" will hear His voice and follow him.

I just going to keep it short this week. I hope you all enjoyed Conference and are determined to be better because of it.

I bought a  little pork from the local street butcher. Maybe I'll start this business when we get home.
A couple of happy Elders after a successful house inspection.
Elder Falls saying goodbye to Ramon and Ernestina and baby (oven). Elder Falls finishes his mission next week.
I'm not sure I like this (in fact I know I don't like it) missionaries saying goodbye to a missionary that is leaving.
District meeting selfie.
I invited Julio over to watch the BYU game so I could feel good about it. It was a ministering activity.
Hermana Hill found her sister in the choir when they were watching the women's session of conference.
We're all crowded in at the district center to watch conference in English.
I guess I should include the one with Elder Falls since he may see it next week.
I have been meeting with Neftali 2-3x per week to help him with his English. I love this man. He has a heart of gold.
It's hard to tell from her but that big bus couldn't make the turn so the truck in front of him had to move, but the truck wouldn't start so they are pushing the truck out of the way.  This sort of thing seems normal now.
Ipa and Julio came over during a very big down pour of rain. They helped us mop up the water.
Ipa and Julio having a good time.
A more formal picture of the district. there will probably be 4 changes this week.
Here is the Dominican staple Fried salami (really more like bologna) and smashed fried bananas
Pure cane sugar from the DR
It's hard to see but that is our car parked in front of our house in about 1 foot of water.
Elder Morreno with a very clean floor for house inspections.
Everything looked great until we found the cockroach in the refrigerator.
This is making due with what you have.
